During the Spanish-American War, 300 men from Chelsea enlisted in the service.
	One man from Chelsea was killed in action during the Spanish-American War. Cpl. Daniel Dempsey Killed in the charge at El Taney, Cuba The square at the conjunction of Park, Cross and Pearl Streets was named in his honor.
