The 2006 Drawing was dedicated to Jack Montalbano

Jack Montalbano
1919-2005

Jack Montalbano was the father of the $10,000 Drawing fundraiser held here at Our Lady of Grace. The previous pastor was looking for a way to raise money. Jack had an idea. Thus began the $10,000 drawing. The first drawing was held at the Moose Hall and sandwiches were served. Eventually the drawing was moved here to Our Lady of Grace Hall and a more formal dinner was prepared. Jack built the display board and the numbered disks that are still used in the drawing today. The numbers on each of the disks are in Jack's handwriting. After a lapse of a few years and the desire to raise much needed funds, Fr. Barry decided to resurrect the $10,000 Drawing. The Social Committee took on the task of implementing the event. Jack showed us how to do it. He provided us with all of his meticulously prepared records, advertisements and lists. Each year he would do his part, call people and help sell tickets...right to the very end.
With Jacks guidance the $10,000 Drawing has been a success for many years. Jack has left his mark everywhere in this parish. Jack was part of the original crew that built this hall, the men's and ladies room and the kitchen. Five years ago the entire upper church was remodeled. Jack was advanced in age and couldn't physically help out, but he stopped in each night and sat in the front pew, just to lend his support. Jack would save the soda bottles and cans from parish events and turn them in to purchase items for the hall and kitchen. He purchased the popcorn machine, the coffee maker, countless pans and utensils and other items too numerous to mention. Jack has always been a contributing member of our parish. He is sorely missed.
